Diagnostic Essay

I was asked to interpret one of two quotes, one had to do with Christianity, so I didn't do that one, so I did this one:

"Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt."

Here is my interpretation of the quote, only had 15 minutes to formulate the response:

Having doubt within the things that we usually can accomplish causes us to fail. This fear of failure disrupts any attempt that was once thought to succeed. Without any true accomplishments, the person who never seeks to try, falls into a deep pit of despair. Modern society tends to create a challenge for anyone trying to break away from the conceptual and conventional box and generally causes a person to fall into the feeling of not succeeding in this world.

Professor's Response:

Interesting interpretation.

This sounds as if you had an experience in mind that you did not have time to write about.

Good
